OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AT CURA
WHAT IS AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST?
An Occupational therapist is a health professional who provides
skilled assessment and treatment to help individuals develop, regain
or maintain the skills necessary to participate in all areas of
their lives following illness or disability. These areas include
personal care, everyday activities, and work and leisure activities.
Occupational therapists will work with the person to develop
strategies, techniques, or suggest adaptations so that the person
can be as independent as possible.
Occupational Therapy gives people the "skills for the job of living"
necessary for living meaningful and satisfying lives.
All our Occupational therapists are registered with the Health
Professions Council and the College of Occupational Therapists.

An Occupational therapy assessment may take place at the clinic or
in your home or work environment. The Occupational Therapist will
discuss the difficulties you have and ask you to perform the tasks
you find difficult to assess where the problem lies.
Occupational Therapists work in partnership with you; therefore,
your treatment plan will be based on those tasks that you consider
to be most important to you. You may be taught new ways of dealing
with the problem or adaptations may be suggested.
Occupational Therapists consider your physical and psychological
well-being in designing bespoke treatment regimes.
